Laurie...a good ole girl

Laurie....you look like such a girly-girl in that last picture....I thought it important that people saw the "good ole girl" side of you! This is a great shot of you "at the bar". Probably was one of your trucker friends who took the picture! Love you Laurie

Laurie's haircut

Not really remembering what happened all I know was that I was the VICTIM! Apparently David came in a gouged off a huge chunk of my hair and was rightly punished accordingly. I was innocent.

OK I guess what really happened was after we adopted Shannon and Julie they had to get their hair cut and I wanted my hair cut as well. Since I had never actually had my hair cut and I believe Dad was somewhat sentimentally attatched to it he refused. I was mad and went into the other room where my sweet and sympathetic big brother was and I griped. David knew the solution to the problem, and snip, there went my hair, and there also went Davids good grace in the eyes of Dad, and he was the one who actually got in trouble! Thanks David, you always had my back!

My encounters with Joel

As you can tell he obviously WAS the favorite big brother! Love you Joel!

Ammon's Hair cut!

Aaaaah Yes! This truly was a moment of greatness! I remember one day being left to babysit the kids while mom and dad went out. At some point I had a moment of inspiration...lightening had struck my brain! I took Ammon in the back bathroom, used the clippers to shave his head....and then dad's straight razor to give it that super close finish. I truly spent a good amount of time running my hand over his head making sure I didn't miss many spots!

One of the great things about this was mom and dad's reaction....I think they were surprised......and then they let me know that if I ever did something like that again that it was going to be my head! I don't know what all the hub bub is though....Ammon truly liked his hair cut and said so at the time. I think that during that whole experience...I didn't have (and still don't) any fear of what the reaction might be or remorse for the act.....I think the sheer excitement that came with that inspiration drowned out all fear! And besides....who's the paper tiger?! ;-)

The story that needs telling is when David cut Laurie's hair! That is the story that almost ended with casualties!

rebuttal to comment left on previous post...

Lots of things seem like a good idea at the time...don't they Joel.

memory of the best big brother

In keeping with the spirit of the previous post I will tell a story out of my own memory. Joel(aforementioned older brother) and his best friend Michael were hanging out in the garage lifting weights and being disreputable. I walked in on this scene and was immediately informed that they really needed to show me something. It was so cool and I would love it. They had me lie down on the floor and then quicker than you could spit they had the bar with all of the weights they owned over my neck. That is when I realized their discovery that was 'so cool' and that 'I would love...' the bar was just tall enough that I had no problem breathing and just short enough that I couldn't slide my head out from underneath it. It was also at an impossible angle for me to move myself. At this point they walked out of the room laughing...and closed the door. Thanks big brother...your the best!

Love,
Meggie

As this is the first post and as I am the oldest of the kids, I thought it only appropriate to begin with this picture...... which is an obvious example of what a good big brother I was(and still am) If you notice I am sharing a chocolate donut with chocolate icing on it with Samuel. Now if that isn't love, I don't know what is! Now don't yall all jump in and overwhelm this site with examples of how good of a big brother I was.....and Mom, you probably shouldn't come out and say that I was your favorite(as much as you may want to)
